Lab news
Postdoc advertisement (March 2023):
A two-year NSF-funded postdoctoral position will be available in the Lopes Lab at Chapman University in Orange, California. The project will focus on understanding how and when animals experience anticipatory responses to parasitism risk and the potential adaptive value of those responses.
The postdoctoral associate would take a leading role in an inter-disciplinary experimental study blending immunology, endocrinology, neurobiology, and behavioral ecology, thus providing a lot of opportunities for learning new methods or fields. Ideal candidates would have previously worked with birds and/or with experimental infections in vertebrates. Candidates with skills in R programming, molecular techniques, and histological techniques are preferred, but candidates without these skills should still apply. The lab is dedicated to maintaining an environment that values and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The postdoctoral associate would join a team composed of myself (the PI), another postdoctoral researcher, and several bright and hard-working undergraduate students. They would benefit from a strong postdoctoral community in the college, access to brand new facilities and significant opportunities for professional development tailored to their long-term goals. Dr. Lopes has mentored two other postdoctoral researchers in her lab, both of whom obtained tenure-track academic positions. The lab is dedicated to helping postdocs achieve their long-term career goals, whatever they may be. This will be done by implementing an individual development plan, and by additional training/workshops at or outside of the college.
If you are interested, please contact lopes <at> chapman.edu and send a CV before April 14, 2023. Start date would be June or July 2023.

I was also interviewed by the Radio Télévision Suisse, which was a fun experience!
My Neuroimmunomodulation paper was featured on the science blog The Sieve. Follow the link to see it (video included!!!):
